Anastasiou, Angelos
Managing Director, European Utilities Research

Angelos Anastasiou started in the City in 1986 as a graduate trainee with Panmure Gordon & Co. Limited, having previously read Chemistry at St. Anne's College, Oxford. He has followed the Utilities sector since 1988, when the Water privatisations were first mooted, having also followed the Electricity sector from its inception in 1989. At this stage, he was a key part of the team that pitched successfully for the sole brokership of Wessex Water, and he was head of the Utilities team from then until he left Panmure in 1997. He was also involved in the privatisation of British Energy in 1995. Angelos moved to Credit Lyonnais Securities in 1997, where he added the Gas Distribution sector to his coverage, and where he also coordinated the Pan-European Utilities Research. Angelos continued to follow Utilities at Williams de Broë from 2000, and joined Evolution Securities as part of the takeover of Williams de Broë in July 2006. Angelos is well known in the Utilities sector and is one of just two sell-side analysts that have continuously followed the Water sector since privatisation. In the Electricity sector, he may well be the only sell-side analyst that has continuously followed the sector since its inception. He joined Pali International in August 2007.
Azzimondi, Andrea

Andrea Azzimondi (CFA) joined Pali in July of 2006 as Managing Director and Head of European Media Research at Pali in London.
Andrea has been involved in the Media sector for more than 15 years both as an equity analyst and as a banker. He served as Global Head of Media Research at Paribas in London and has worked as Director and Head of European Research at CSFB and Banca IMI respectively. As a banker, in his role as Managing Director and Head of Media Europe at BNP Paribas in London, he was involved in the origination and execution of many M&A and Debt and Equity transactions. He has extensive deal-making experience in all major sub-sectors of the media industry.
Andrea strongly shares Pali's belief in non-maintenance, original, performance-focused research. He holds an M.B.A. from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a degree in Economics from Bocconi University.
Barnard, Marcus
Managing Director, European Insurance Research
Pali International
Marcus joined Pali International from SG Securities in July 2007 as Managing Director, European Insurance Research. He has been involved with the insurance sector since 1991, first as a trainee actuary with the Royal London Mutual Insurance Society and moving on to become a senior fund manager with Royal London Asset Management, giving him extensive practical experience within the sector. He changed direction in 2002, moving to HSBC to become an insurance analyst, and was then at SG Securities from 2004 until joining Pali International.
Marcus graduated from the University of Bristol with First Class Honours in Mathematics, before beginning his insurance career. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, and holds the IIMR Investment Management Certificate.
Bubb, Nick

Nick Bubb joined Pali in January 2007 as Managing Director and Head of U.K. General and Food Retail Research.
Nick began his career as a retailing analyst in 1977 with UBS (Rowe & Pitman) before moving to Scrimgeour Vickers in 1979. In 1986 he became Head of their No. 1 ranked retail team and was personally ranked No. 1 in the Institutional Investor poll of Stores Sector analysts in 1988. Nick joined Morgan Stanley in London later the same year as Head of Retail Research and in 1997 moved to SG Securities as Head of Pan-European Retail Research, in London. At the beginning of 2003 Nick joined Evolution Securities as their U.K. Retail Analyst and left there in December 2006.
Nick graduated from Christ Church, Oxford (Philosophy, Politics and Economics). He is a well-known commentator on U.K. retailing in the press and is also very knowledgeable about U.K. shopping centres. He is a member of the KPMG/SPSL Retail Think-Tank.
Jha, Sanjay
Managing Director, European Capital Goods Resaerch

Sanjay joined Pali International from Societe Generale, as Managing Director, European Capital Goods Resaerch, in July 2007.
Sanjay initially worked as a research associate with CRU International Ltd, before joining Metal Bulletin as an analyst covering the metals and steels markets. From 1994-96 his focus was on research and consultancy, as he continued to advise on the metal markets. However, in November 1996 he moved to the sell side, initially analysing capital goods and later IT hardware & software at Williams de Broë. In 2002 he was made Team Leader with responsibility for the TMT group, before moving on in October 2003. After WdB he spent a while at Durlacher and later Altium Securities, before joining SocGen in March 2005, as an analyst in the Risk Arb/Event Driven/Relative Value Research Hedge Fund Group.
Sanjay is a graduate of the University of Delhi, where he studied Economics, before coming to England where he obtained an MSc in Economics, and later took his MBA at City University Business School (CASS). He also holds the IIMR Investment Management Certificate.
Knox, Peter
Managing Director and Head of European Technology Hardware Research

Peter Knox joined Pali in June 2007 as Managing Director and Head of European Technology Hardware Research at Pali in London.
He began his career as an analyst at Robert Fleming Investment Management in 1985, where he covered UK electronics and miscellaneous engineering. After stints with Savory Milln, Salomon Brothers and Williams de Broë, he joined UBS as Senior Continental European Technology and Telecoms Operators Analyst in 1992. At UBS he developed a team which consistently gained top-five rankings in analyst surveys and also was heavily involved in the flotation of several European major telco operators and technology equipment companies before latterly concentrating on the technology hardare area.
In 1998 Peter moved to Commerzbank, where as Head of Technology Research, he established a well-regarded team of analysts covering the telecoms equipment and semiconductors sectors as well as leading research teams covering the Internet and IT services sectors. At Commerzbank he continued to be heavily involved in several company flotations, particularly in the semiconductors and components arenas. He remained there until 2003, when he joined Cheuvreux as a senior analyst specialising in Nordic technology companies, with an emphasis on the telcoms equipment sector.
Peter graduated from Durham University (BSc Applied Physics and Electronics) and also holds an MSc in Management Science from Imperial College, London.
Packard, Bruce (CFA)

Bruce joined Pali in May 2007 as Managing Director and Head of Banks Research at Pali in London.
Previously he covered the UK and Irish banks at Societe Generale, ING and Credit Suisse as part of a pan-European team. In 2004 Bruce was ranked 1st among UK Bank Analysts for stockpicking (source: Starmine). Prior to that, at Credit Suisse Bruce was part of the UK Banks team ranked 3rd in the Institutional Investor 2001 survey. He has covered the UK banks for 7 years, and was a management consultant before that. Bruce has a degree in Theology from Durham University 1994-97 and became a CFA Charterholder in 2004.
